Wedding is in 4 months and I still havent set up the registry. My mother in law is breathing down my neck for the link to give relatives. We live in a tiny place in Seattle so we dont want random kitchen stuff, we really need a cash fund for our Italy trip but maybe a few specific upgrades.

Im torn between Zola and The Knot. Zola looks cleaner but I already started our site on The Knot and moving everything feels like a nightmare. Does one have lower fees for cash gifts? I also heard about Joy but idk if its buggy. Which one is actually best for mixing cash and physical items?

Honestly, stick with The Knot if you started already, its not worth the headache of moving. Joy is better for cash fees tho. If you want to pull specific upgrades from random boutiques to fit your small place, Share Product is a lifesaver when you want stuff from like five different websites on one list. It makes the mixing part way easier than the built-in tools for physical items.

Saw this post earlier and wanted to weigh in because the fee thing really got me when I was planning. Building on the earlier suggestion, you definitely gotta watch out for those credit card processing fees on cash funds because they eat into your Italy budget fast. Honestly, 3 percent adds up to a nice dinner in Florence pretty quick. I would suggest checking these bits first:

  • See if the site lets you pass the fee to the guest or if it stays with you
  • Check the payout speed because some platforms take ages to transfer
  • Verify if physical gifts can be converted to cash later if you change your mind Since youre in a tiny Seattle spot, I totally get the clutter fear. I actually used Share Product to manage a list of specific, small items that wouldn't take over my kitchen. It was way easier to just send that link to the stubborn relatives who refused to give cash. Just be careful with The Knots mobile site tho, it gets kinda wonky during high traffic times... stay sane!
