ive been staring at the hamilton khaki field mechanical for like three weeks now and im finally ready to pull the trigger but i really dont want to pay full retail at an ad. my budget is pretty tight like under $450 if possible because i need it for my brothers wedding next month and i still gotta buy a suit too lol.
right now im looking at jomashop and ashford. jomashop has the 38mm black dial for around $390 which seems like a steal but then ive seen some people say ashford actually gets cheaper if you find the right coupon codes or whatever. i also saw a listing on chrono24 from a dealer in florida but after shipping and taxes it might end up being more expensive than just going with a big gray market site. im mostly worried about the warranty stuff since i know gray market doesnt give you the official hamilton card.
jomashop has their own warranty but i dont know if ashford is better for customer service if something goes wrong with the movement. i am leaning toward ashford because i heard their shipping is faster but jomashop has more selection usually. between those two or maybe even something else i missed who actually has the absolute lowest bottom line price for hamiltons right now?
Oh man, the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical is such an amazing watch! You are going to absolutely love it for the wedding, it looks fantastic with a suit if you swap the NATO strap for a nice leather one! I have bought from both Jomashop and Ashford tons of times. Honestly, Ashford usually wins on price if you can find one of their 10% or 15% off codes that they constantly run. Sometimes you can get the black dial down to like $360 which is insane value. But here is the catch with Jomashop, you have to make sure it says In Stock and not Ships in 1-3 weeks or you might not get it in time for the wedding next month. Their shipping can be super slow if they don't actually have it in the warehouse. Regarding the warranty, the H-50 hand-wound movement in these is an absolute tank. It is super reliable so I wouldn't worry too much about the official Hamilton card. Ashford customer service has actually been way easier to deal with in my experience compared to Joma. If you want to be 100% sure you are getting the absolute best deal, you should definitely check out PriceDropCatch to track the prices and see if they drop even lower before you buy. I use it all the time to spy on gray market prices. Good luck with the suit hunt too!
Regarding what #2 said about "Ive been through this exact hunt before so..."
Ive been through this exact hunt before so I totally get the budget struggle. A few years back I finally grabbed the black dial version and was blown away by that H-50 movement. The 80-hour power reserve is a game changer... basically leave it on my desk for three days and it's still ticking when I pick it back up. My order went through Jomashop because they had a flash sale at the time, and honestly, the watch has been a tank. It was running +3 seconds a day right out of the box, which is better than some of my pieces that cost triple the price. No official warranty card was a bit of a worry at first, but the savings made it worth the risk. Quick tips:
