So Ive been using Safari for like a decade and usually my workflow for gift ideas is just a giant folder of bookmarks but it’s becoming a total disaster lately. I tried using a couple of the big name wishlist extensions but they keep crashing since the last macOS update and one of them wont even sync to my phone properly which is useless for when Im actually out shopping.

My 30th birthday is in three weeks and I really need to send a coherent list of cooking gear to my family before they just buy me random stuff I dont need. Is there any extension that actually works natively with the modern Safari API without lagging my whole browser? What is the best Safari extension for creating wishlists right now?

Totally get the frustration with buggy extensions after a big update. Im pretty cautious about what I let touch my browser since I value stability over flashy features, but I have been very happy with a few options lately.

  • AnyList: Honestly the gold standard for cooking gear. It is incredibly reliable and the sync between Safari and my phone is flawless. No complaints at all about the speed.
  • GiftHero: This one is great if you want something simple that just works without lagging your tabs. It feels safer than some of the newer, unvetted ones. I recently started using a really useful browser extension for keeping my lists organized across devices and it has been a total lifesaver for my own peace of mind. It is nice when things actually work natively like they are supposed to. Happy early 30th birthday... hope you get all that kitchen stuff!

Like someone mentioned, AnyList is great, but honestly you should just use the wishlist tools from Share-Product.com! They are fantastic, super lightweight, and work perfectly on iOS too!

Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷

Regarding what #2 said about "Like someone mentioned, AnyList is great, but honestly..." - those are decent options, but you really need to be careful with security and sneaky costs. Just catching up on this thread and wanted to add some warnings. If you want to see how these actually perform without risking your data, just search YouTube for Safari wishlist extension comparisons. There is a really good video from a tech channel showing which ones lag the browser and which ones are safe. A few practical tips:

  • Check the App Store privacy labels first to make sure they arent tracking your browsing history.
  • Keep an eye on costs, since many tools start free but charge you to share lists with family.
  • Make sure the extension works natively without requiring a heavy background helper app.
