Does JCPenney price match other major department stores?

So I am honestly so frustrated right now with JCPenneys online pricing and their stupid coupon exclusions. I got a $150 gift card for my birthday last month and I have been trying to buy this specific Cuisinart food processor before hosting my family for Thanksgiving next week. Every single coupon I try to use on their site says excluded from promo. Every. Single. One. It is so annoying because Macy's has the exact same model on sale right now for $99, but JCPenney is still listing it at the full retail price of $160.

I really want to just buy it at Macy's and be done with it but I have this gift card burning a hole in my pocket and I cant afford to just spend another hundred bucks out of pocket right now. I tried calling their customer service line but got put on hold for like twenty minutes before the call dropped.

I just want to know if I can go into my local store in Dallas and get them to match Macys price so I can finally use this gift card and get this kitchen stuff sorted. Does JCPenney price match other major department stores like Macys or Kohl's? Or am I just stuck paying their inflated prices?

TL;DR: Yes, they match Macy's but you gotta show the live page on your phone at the register! It is totally worth doing to save that cash! JCP matching is great to use up gift cards, but their online system is trash compared to Macy's easy site. I actually use PriceDropCatch to track these price drops and it is amazing for finding the lowest store prices. Just go in, show them the Macy's link, and you are set!

Yes, JCPenney does technically price match major competitors like Macy's and Kohl's, but unfortunately, the process is not as smooth as it used to be. I have run into issues with this at Dallas stores myself. They have gotten way stricter with their rules lately, and honestly, it is pretty disappointing how hard they make you work for it. If you want to try it in-store, keep these things in mind:

  • The item must be the exact same model number, color, and size. Since it is Cuisinart, double-check every digit because they will deny you if even one letter is off.
  • You need to show them the live Macy's product page on your phone at the register. A screenshot usually won't work.
  • Beware of their holiday blackout dates. Sometimes they refuse matches during Thanksgiving week, which is incredibly annoying. Before you head out, I'd suggest checking this JCPenney price tracker to see if the price history shows any upcoming drops, just in case they refuse the match and you need to wait it out. If the cashier gives you a hard time, ask for a manager right away. Most regular cashiers dont even know their own policy details. Good luck, hope you get that food processor before Thanksgiving.

^ This. Also, just to back up what the others said, JCPenney has become a massive headache to deal with lately. I had a similar nightmare last Christmas trying to match a kitchen mixer. Showed them the competitor's ad, but the store manager in Dallas kept arguing about model numbers even though they were identical. It was so exhausting. Basically, you can do it, but you have to jump through hoops. Like they said, you need the live page on your phone, and the item has to be in stock at Macy's right that second. If you do go to the store, here are a few things to keep in mind to save your sanity:

  • Make sure the Macy's app shows the item is currently in stock, otherwise JCP will reject it instantly.
  • Check the exact model name, because even a one-letter difference in the serial number gives them an excuse to say no.
  • Be prepared to politely ask for a manager because regular cashiers often dont know the policy or just don't want to deal with it. Honestly, Cuisinart is great, but if this JCP runaround fails, just look at getting any food processor from KitchenAid instead. They are super reliable and you can usually find them cheaper without all this hassle. If you're tired of checking JCPenney every day for sales, definitely try PriceDropCatch.
