Does anyone actually know of a safe, reliable multi-store wishlist extension for Chrome because I am seriously about to lose my mind with the one I have right now. Honestly I am just so fed up with these tools that promise to sync everything across the web but then end up breaking your browser or probably selling your data to every advertiser on the planet. I have been using this one specific extension for months to track stuff for my sisters wedding next June—Im helping her put together a list of local UK-based boutiques and some bigger shops like John Lewis—and it just keeps failing me. Half the time it doesnt grab the price correctly and the other half it just says item not found even though the page is literally open in the next tab. It is beyond frustrating when you are trying to be organized and the tech just lets you down.
I am looking for something that is actually lightweight. I dont need a billion features I just want to be able to click a button on any site—be it Etsy, some random kitchenware store, or Amazon—and have it save the link, the price, and a photo in one place. My total budget for the wedding gifts and decor I am managing is around 700 pounds so I really need to track prices closely to make sure I am staying on target but this current tool is making it impossible. Plus, I am getting really paranoid about permissions lately. Some of these extensions want access to all data on all websites which feels totally unnecessary for a simple bookmarking tool. Like why do you need to see my bank login just to save a pair of shoes??
I tried using a Google Doc for a bit but it is such a chore to copy-paste everything and it looks so boring without the pictures. I miss the visual aspect of a proper wishlist. Has anyone found something that actually works and isnt buggy as hell? I just want something stable that I can trust not to delete my lists or slow my laptop to a crawl. Really hoping there is a hidden gem out there that I just havent found yet because I am ready to just give up and go back to pen and paper at this rate...
I have spent way too much time auditing browser extensions over the years, and honestly, the permission requests on most shopping tools are absolute garbage. This rabbit hole started when I was building a registry for my own place and saw how many were just data scrapers in disguise.
Stumbled on this thread this morning and I totally feel your pain, but honestly I have to disagree that all extensions are junk! I went through a huge phase of testing these and found that most fail because they try to be big ad engines. I switched to using a handy tool because it focuses on metadata. Most people dont realize websites use OpenGraph tags—bits of code meant for social media that have the price and photo ready to go. Light tools just grab that specific tag instead of scraping the whole messy page, so they dont break your browser or ask for crazy permissions. It is amazing how much faster everything runs when you stop using those data-hungry ones! Its a fantastic way to keep the visual aspect without the lag. Definitely worth trying this approach before you go back to pen and paper.
Most extensions are just buggy ad engines, unfortunately, and they often fail on local sites. I found Share Product a few months ago and its definitely the best tool for making quick wishlists.
