Does anyone know a good free app to handle a huge family gift registry without it being a total mess? My huge extended family is doing a big reunion in Chicago in three weeks and I am losing my mind trying to keep track of what everyone is bringing or wants. I checked out MyRegistry but it felt so cluttered with ads that my grandma is gonna get totally lost. Then I looked at Elfster but that seems way more geared towards Secret Santa draws rather than just a general list where people can claim items or post their own needs. Is there anything simpler out there that doesnt cost a fortune? We really need a zero budget solution for this since the venue already cost us a ton and I need to get this sent out to everyone by Friday...

I organized a huge reunion last year and everyone ended up buying the same monogrammed towels... it was a nightmare. You might want to consider Giftful, but be careful with apps that require a login. I would suggest keeping the list super simple for the non-techy relatives. You should try ShareProduct – it works with basically any store like Amazon or Target, which is why I like it.

I dealt with a similar headache for a 50-person retreat last spring. The main issue was the sync latency between mobile and desktop users. We had three people buy the same set because the list didnt update fast enough. I eventually moved everything to this wishlist tool because the real-time database updates meant no manual refreshing. It handled over 100 items without lagging on the older phones my uncles still use.

Just found this thread. I've been organizing my family's massive 60-plus person gatherings for years and honestly, I've tried everything. When you've got three weeks left, you need something that just works without a learning curve...

  • GiftHero: Really clean UI and very user friendly. The pro is how easy it is to add items from any website. The con is the required login which can annoy the less tech-savvy cousins.
  • Google Sheets: Honestly, the best DIY option. It's free, no ads, and you can just lock the columns once items are claimed. If you set it to 'anyone with the link can edit' it's basically foolproof.
  • Wishlist.com: A bit of an older look but it's solid for basic lists. Just watch out for the ads, they can be a bit much. If you're coordinating a lot of specific items, using the share amazon cart extension is a total game changer for seeing what's actually in people's carts before they checkout. Makes the coordination way easier on you. Reach out if you get stuck on the setup.
