so I finally upgraded to the R10 after years on my old 80D and honestly I love the autofocus but I am hitting a wall with lens choices for this trip I have coming up to Japan in about three weeks. I used to just slap the 18-135mm on my old body and call it a day but the adapter makes my old glass feel way too front heavy and kinda defeats the purpose of the small R10 body. Im looking for one solid travel zoom that can handle street stuff during the day and maybe some temple shots without being a total brick in my bag.
I was looking at the RF-S 18-150mm f3.5-6.3 but I worry it feels a bit kit lens-y or if the image quality is actually a step up from my old ef-s glass. then there is the RF 24-240mm but that seems huge on a tiny aps-c body and id lose the wide end which sucks for city shots. is there a hidden gem I am missing or should i just stick to the 18-150 and call it good?
Just caught this thread. Honestly, the Canon RF-S 18-150mm f3.5-6.3 IS STM is the safest bet to keep things light and under budget. It isnt as fancy as L glass but it gets the job done reliably. Save your cash for the actual trip and maybe grab a refurbished one to cut costs further. Anything else is gonna feel way too bulky on that R10 body.
I've been very satisfied with the Canon RF-S 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM.
Ngl you gotta be careful with slow apertures on these all-in-one zooms. Before I give a final recommendation, are you shooting inside temples or just the outside? Low light performance is the real dealbreaker here.
