Want to pair a sigma lens with Canon EOS R50. Which lens would you recommend?

For Canon EOS R50 I would also check the autofocus performance. Do you need fast AF for action shots?

Using Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art for about a year for Canon EOS R50 and can only recommend it. The build quality is outstanding The build quality feels premium and should last for years.

What focal length range are you thinking? That makes a big difference for Canon EOS R50.

For Canon EOS R50 I would take Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art without hesitation. The compatibility is comprehensive The build quality feels premium and should last for years.

Long-term experience: Using Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art for several months and am thrilled. Have researched for a long time and this lens was the best choice. The image quality clearly exceeds my expectations. Very good price-performance ratio, can only recommend further.

  • Just saw this and honestly, most of these suggestions are gonna cost you way too much money for an entry-level body. Putting a massive Art lens on an R50 is basically a waste of cash and ruins the portability. Unfortunately, Canon was so slow to open the RF mount that our budget Sigma options are still pretty limited compared to other systems.
  • Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary for Canon RF is the most logical pick. It is way lighter than those full-frame zooms and costs significantly less while giving you a constant f/2.8 aperture.
  • Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Canon RF is a much better value for portraits than the 85mm. The 85mm is overkill and too heavy for the R50 mount, whereas this is sharp and costs half the price.
  • Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Canon RF is your best bet for a standard prime, tho i've had issues with some purple fringing in bright light. Not as sharp as I expected but for the price its okay. Dont bother with EF adapters if you can avoid it. It adds too much bulk to a small setup like yours and defeats the point of a compact mirrorless system.

Interesting question! For Canon EOS R50 it also depends on what you want to shoot. What's your main photography style?

Honestly, I’m not totally sure if putting those massive Art lenses on such a small body like the R50 is the best move, you know? I’ve tried a similar setup and it felt super front-heavy, which kind of ruins the point of having a compact camera. I think I heard somewhere that Sigma is finally starting to release native RF-S glass? Not 100% certain on the timeline, but IIRC those are supposed to be way better balanced for crop sensors. Basically, the ergonomics just feel off to me when the lens is literally twice the size of the camera, right? Might be worth waiting to see what else comes out before jumping on the big EF-mount adapters.
