Which external monitors are best for video on Canon RF mount cameras?

I’ve been shooting a lot more video on my Canon R6 Mark II lately, and while the flip-out screen is okay, it’s just too small for checking critical focus or framing high-angle shots. I’m specifically looking for an external monitor that won't lag when using the Canon Dual Pixel AF tracking overlays. I’ve looked at the Atomos Ninja and some PortKeys options, but I'm worried about the flimsy micro-HDMI connection on these bodies and how it handles 10-bit HDR output. Does anyone have recommendations for a bright, reliable 5-inch monitor under $700? I really need something that integrates well without losing touch-to-focus. What are you guys using with your RF setups?

In my experience, the Portkeys LH5P II 5.5-inch Touchscreen Monitor is great, but ur gonna need a SmallRig HDMI Cable Clamp for Canon EOS R6 Mark II or that micro-HDMI port will definitely break.

Coming back to this... I've been shooting on Canon bodies since the 5D II days and honestly, that micro-HDMI port on the R6 II is just asking for trouble. Totally agree with the earlier point about needing a clamp; seriously, dont skip that or youre gonna regret it when the port starts wobbling mid-shoot. Here's my experience with these rigs:
- I'd look at the Feelworld high-bright screens. I’ve used a few over the years and while they aren't as 'pro' as some brands, the lag is basically zero and they're way under your $700 budget.
- Just a heads up, touch-to-focus is usually pretty glitchy over HDMI. I usually just keep my thumb on the camera's LCD to tap focus and use the big screen purely for framing. It's a bit of a workaround but it saves your sanity.
- Definitely save some budget for extra batteries. High-bright screens eat through power like crazy, so going for a cheaper monitor is actually the smarter move tbh. Anyway, that's what's worked for me over the years... gl!

> I really need something that integrates well without losing touch-to-focus. Honestly, this is the TRICKY part with the RF system. Not sure but I think maintaining the native touch-to-focus functionality through HDMI is still a bit hit-or-miss depending on the specific communication protocol the monitor uses. I've heard some people say it works with specific control cables, but doing it purely via the HDMI handshake can be laggy. Just to clarify so I can give better advice - are you looking for full camera control (like iris/shutter) from the monitor screen, or do you just need the Dual Pixel AF boxes to display accurately without latency? TBH, my biggest concern for you is the signal reliability. Pushing a 10-bit HDR signal through that micro-HDMI is basically redlining the bandwidth. IIRC, some users reported the signal cutting out if the cable wasn't rated for 18Gbps+ - even if the monitor itself is great. If you're doing high-stakes video, the connection stability is going to be your biggest hurdle.
