Hello, I'm planning to use it with Canon EOS RP and need a tamron lens recommendation. What would you take?
My clear recommendation for Canon EOS RP: Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD. The sharpness is extremely high The image quality out of the box is very good.
Technical highlights: The latest generation offers significantly better image quality. Very good compatibility with Canon EOS RP features. Can be used without problems for various photography styles. Even after hours of shooting, no performance losses. Very good build quality, even at high usage.
Interesting question! For Canon EOS RP it also depends on what you want to shoot. What's your main photography style?
Do you already have a preference? That could influence the lens choice.
For Canon EOS RP, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is an excellent choice. The controls are user-friendly The latest optical technology ensures sharp images and good color accuracy.
Additionally, you should note: The latest generation offers significantly better image quality than previous models. Especially ideal for demanding photography and video work. Compatibility with Canon EOS RP is very good, and the autofocus performance is also convincing.
For Canon EOS RP I would also check the autofocus performance. Do you need fast AF for action shots?
Depends on what exactly you want to do with Canon EOS RP. Photography or also video work?
Did this last week, worked perfectly
Gonna try this over the weekend. Will report back if it works!
I can highly recommend Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD for Canon EOS RP! The bokeh is beautiful The premium build provides excellent durability and weather resistance.
Just caught this thread and wanted to add a couple of technical points that might save you some headaches. Since the RP uses the RF-mount, you're basically looking at adapted EF glass for now, right? A few things to clarify before you buy: 1. **What is your budget?** Some of the older Tamron SP primes are steals, but the newer G2 zooms definitely have better weather sealing and motors.
2. **Are you okay with the adapter?** Adding the EF-to-RF adapter adds about an inch of length to the setup, so 'compact' lenses can get a bit front-heavy on a small body like the RP. If you want some data-heavy reviews, I’d check out these resources:
* **Dustin Abbott’s website**: He does deep dives on specific lens-to-body compatibility for Canon mirrorless.
* **Tamron’s official Compatibility Chart**: It shows which serial numbers need firmware updates via the Tap-in Console to work with the RP's eye-AF.
* **DPReview’s RF forum**: There are massive community threads there dedicated to adapted third-party glass. Honestly, I'm a bit confused because some of the 'Di III' lenses mentioned earlier are actually for Sony E-mount... I dont think they make native RF versions yet? Definitely double-check the mount type before hitting buy!
Subbing for updates
Saving this whole thread. So much good info here you guys are awesome.
