So I just got the new Canon R5 Mark II because my brother said it was the best one out there but honestly I have no idea how to even use it yet lol. I realized it doesnt come with a lens so now im stuck. I need something that can do a bit of everything because im going to Italy in three weeks and dont want to carry a huge bag of gear around.
Is there just one lens that stays on the camera all the time? Sorry if this is a stupid question i just dont want to buy the wrong thing...
> needs to take good pictures of buildings and also people Yo! Congrats on the new R5II, thats such a beast of a camera lol. If you want one lens that basically never leaves your body, you gotta look at the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. It is honestly fantastic for travel because 24mm is wide enough for those narrow Italian streets and huge cathedrals, but 105mm lets you get some amazing portraits of people without being right in their face! It fits right in your $2000 budget too, usually leaves you with some extra cash for pasta and wine lol. Quick tip tho: since the R5II has amazing stabilized sensor, you can shoot at slower shutter speeds even when it gets dark. Tbh skip the cheap kit version and get the L series... the red ring means it is weather sealed which is huge if you get caught in a rainstorm in Rome! Youre gonna have the best time!
> budget is maybe $2000 max if thats enough? Late to the party! You can definitely do it for way less. The Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM is the pro choice for amazing quality but its kinda heavy for walking all day. If you want more range for Italy, I love the Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM. It covers basically everything! One lens, way less weight, more fun.
Italy is gonna be amazing! Honestly I was kinda terrified of picking the wrong thing for my Canon EOS R5 Mark II too lol. Getting one of the official Canon zoom lenses was the move tho, and I am so satisfied with it...
