What is the absolute best flash for the Canon R8 that actually works without constantly dropping connection or misfiring?
Honestly Im so fed up with my current Godox V1, it keeps losing contact with the R8 multi-function shoe and I have to keep wiggling it mid-shoot just to get it to fire, it is driving me absolutely insane. I missed half the cake cutting at a birthday party last weekend because of this stupid issue and Im ready to throw it out the window.
I need a replacement ASAP because I have a big family reunion gig coming up next month here in Chicago and I cant risk messing that up. My budget is around 300 bucks, maybe 350 max if it is really worth it. I just want something that:
Should I just bite the bullet and buy a native Canon speedlite, or is there a reliable third-party option that actually fits the R8 shoe properly? I really need some solid recommendations before I lose my mind...
Ive seen so many shoots ruined by shoe issues. Switching to the Canon Speedlite EL-10 for my R8 was a game changer because native gear just fits better.
In my experience, those Godox shoes are shaky. Switched to the Westcott FJ80 II 80Ws Speedlight and havent looked back. It sits much tighter on my R8 without any misfires.
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
