What SD cards are you guys actually using for 4K 60p on the R7 without it choking? I've been looking online and I'm honestly so lost because some people on Reddit swear by the SanDisk Extreme Pro V30 cards saying they handle 4K fine but then I watched this long YouTube review where the guy said you absolutely need V60 or even V90 cards otherwise the buffer fills up in like three seconds and the camera just stops recording.

It's super confusing and the price jump is insane once you start looking at the V90 stuff like the Lexar Professional ones. I'm filming a wedding for a friend in Seattle in two weeks and I really dont want to be the guy whose camera freezes in the middle of the vows because I was too cheap to buy the right card. My budget is around $150 total for maybe two cards or one really big one. I read that the R7 shoots at like 230Mbps or something in 4K Fine mode so I'm worried the V30 cards I already own for my old DSLR are just gonna fail me. Do I really need to shell out for the V90 stuff or is V60 the sweet spot for the R7? I just need something reliable that wont overheat or give me that annoying recording stopped message right when things get interesting...

Quick reply while I have a sec. @Reply #1 - good point! Honestly, in my experience, jumping from V30 to V60 is the most logical step for the R7. Testing plenty of cards over the years has taught me that V30 is just too risky for 4K 60p because that 230Mbps bitrate leaves almost zero overhead. If the card fragments even slightly, you're gonna see that recording stopped message right during the ceremony. Look at ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II V60 Gold 128GB cards first. They are reliable workhorses and you can usually get two for under your $150 budget. Another solid choice is the Sony SF-M Series Tough V60 128GB because they are physically built like a tank... super important for wedding gigs where things get hectic. Usually, I check sites like Camera Memory Speed to see real-world write tests before buying. V90 is mostly for high-speed burst photos, so V60 really is the sweet spot for your video needs.

My current setup works well and im very happy with it. Moving to higher speed classes solved those annoying recording stops I got during high bitrate 4K sessions. Ask if you need more details!
