I'm looking for recommendations on a good gimbal for my Canon EOS R5 Mark II. I want something that can handle the camera's weight and provide smooth stabilization for video shooting. I've heard about options like the DJI Ronin-S and the Zhiyun Crane series, but I'm unsure which would be the best fit. Any advice on compatibility, features, or user experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Like someone mentioned, the DJI ecosystem is the default for a lot of people, but I actually think the Zhiyun Crane 4 is a better fit for the R5 Mark II if you're doing long shoots. Everyone jumps on the RS4 bandwagon, but the ergonomics on the Crane are just more thoughtful for heavy full-frame setups in my experience. I've been using one for a while now. The built-in balance lights are a total game changer because you can see exactly which axis is off without messing with an app. When you've got a beefy lens like the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM on there, that extra stability from the integrated wrist rest really saves your forearms after a few hours.

  • Motor torque is super high, handles the R5 II weight easily
  • Built-in fill light is actually decent for quick fill
  • Sling mode is way more comfortable out of the box The DJI RS 4 Pro is a beast for sure, but you end up paying a premium for the name. If you want something that feels a bit more rugged and comes with the handle setup ready to go, the Zhiyun is definitely worth a look.

I've been researching this for a while. I tested out a couple of options with my EOS R5 Mark II, and I ended up going with the DJI RS 4 Pro. It handles the weight of a full-frame body with heavier lenses without any hiccups, and the balancing process is straightforward. The app integration also lets you fine-tune settings on the fly, which really makes a difference during long shooting days. Make sure you calibrate it properly, especially if you're working in changing conditions!

RS4 Pro.

RS 4 Mini, if you are looking for a lightweight gimbal.
