Anyone has leaked info about Canon EOS RV? What price will it cost? And when is the official release date?

Just jumping in here with a different angle. If you want to stop guessing and actually track this yourself, you should start looking at wireless certification filings. Tbh, i dont always trust the big leak sites because they get stuff or specific details wrong all the time. I prefer the DIY approach by monitoring the FCC and overseas certification bodies like CMIIT or NCC. When Canon registers a new internal project code, like those DS series numbers, its usually a massive tell that the release is roughly 3 to 4 months away. I have been using this method for years and its way more accurate than just listening to hype. Basically, if you see a new high-power Wi-Fi module registered, it points to a higher-end body like Canon EOS RV. Check out these resources if you want to geek out on it:

  • Digicame-info for Japanese market leaks
  • FCC ID Search for radio frequency filings
  • Asobinet for translated patent info So if that March date is real, we should see the registration codes popping up any day now. TL;DR: Monitor official wireless certification registries for new model codes to get a 90-day heads-up on the launch instead of just waiting for rumors.

tbh I basically agree with the March announcement window - it fits the usual spring product cycle - but I really have to disagree on that $1000 price target. If the RV is meant to be a serious addition to the RF line, Canon is going to focus on RELIABILITY over being budget-friendly. Ngl, a $1000 body usually means compromising on thermal management and weather sealing. From a technical standpoint, if they want this to be a reliable workhorse, it needs a magnesium alloy chassis and a shutter assembly rated for high-volume use. I’m expecting the MSRP to be significantly higher - likely around $1800 - because those pro-grade components and IP-rated seals aren't cheap to implement. Afaik, anything lower and you’re just looking at a plastic hobbyist body that might fail you in tough conditions, which is exactly what we DON'T want from an R-series release.

I’ve been doing a ton of market research lately because I’m basically trying to decide whether to upgrade my current setup or wait. Looking at how the other big brands have been pricing their latest gear, Canon usually tries to slot these in right where it hurts the competition most. From what I’ve seen across the market:
- Most 'enthusiast' level bodies are creeping closer to $2k these days.
- Announcements often happen 2 or 3 months before they actually hit shelves.
- The 'V' naming usually implies a bit of a hybrid focus, like what I’ve seen from other manufacturers. I remember when I bought the one I got now, the 'leaks' were off by at least three months, so I’d take the March date with a grain of salt. If they’re looking at what Nikon and Sony are doing, I wouldn’t be surprised if the price is a bit higher than people hope, maybe around $1,900? It’s a weird time for the market right now!!!
