What is the best flash I should get for my Canon 5D Mark IV for a wedding coming up? Im so stressed out because my sister asked me to shoot her small wedding in Chicago next month and I realized my camera doesnt even have a pop up flash like my old Rebel did and I have no idea how to even use an external one. I looked online but there are so many brands like Godox and Profoto and some are like $1000 and others are $80 and I dont understand the difference between TTL or manual or any of that stuff. I just need something that will work and not make everyone look like ghosts because the reception is in a really dark basement restaurant. I have maybe $350 to spend max but honestly if there is something cheaper that is easy to use that would be better because I still need to buy extra batteries too.
Sorry if this is a total newbie question but I am panicking a bit because I dont want to ruin her photos. Does it matter if I get a Canon brand one or are the off brands okay for a beginner? I keep reading about speedlites but idk if thats a brand or just what they call them. I just need it to be simple because I dont have time to learn a thousand settings before the big day. Is there a specific model thats like the gold standard for people who dont know what they are doing...
I spent years mastering bounce flash in dark basements, so be careful.
I totally get the panic... I remember my first time shooting in a dark basement and my shots were all orange and blurry because I didnt have a real flash. I finally picked up the Godox V1-C Flash for Canon and it basically saved my life. It is way easier to use than the native Canon ones and much cheaper too. A couple things to keep in mind for that restaurant:
Building on the earlier suggestion, definitely avoid those cheap AA battery flashes!
