What is the best vertical battery grip for the Canon 5D Mark IV?

So I've been shooting with my 5D Mark IV for like three years now and honestly its my workhorse but today the weirdest thing happened during a portrait session. My vertical shutter button just stopped responding entirely. I tried cleaning the contact points with some alcohol but no luck and now I’m freaking out because I have a huge outdoor wedding in Seattle next weekend and I literally cannot shoot vertical for 8 hours straight without a grip because of my old wrist injury acting up. I've always used the official Canon BG-E20 but it’s getting or at least seems to be getting harder to find brand new locally and some of the prices online are insane for an older body now that everyone is moving to mirrorless. I'm seeing a bunch of third party ones like Neewer or Vello on Amazon for like sixty bucks but I'm terrified about the weather sealing since its probably gonna rain during the ceremony. Do those cheap ones actually hold up for professional use or am I just gonna end up with a bricked camera if the electronics short out? I need something that feels solid and doesn't have that annoying shutter lag when using the AF-ON button. Should I just bite the bullet and hunt down another OEM Canon one even if I have to pay a premium or is there a specific third party brand that you guys actually trust for heavy daily use...

Unfortunately, I've had issues with third-party grips failing when moisture gets involved.

Any error codes on the top LCD? Im satisfied with the Pixel E20 Vertical Battery Grip for Canon 5D Mark IV because the voltage regulation is stable and those weather gaskets align perfectly.

Adding my two cents because I feel your pain. Honestly its such a scam how expensive OEM grips are now. I have tried many over the years and it drives me crazy:

  • Official prices stay sky-high for basically just plastic.
  • Cheap knockoffs that feel like toys.
  • Overpriced used gear. Its basically a choice between getting ripped off or risking your camera electronics tho... total nightmare.
