Hey everyone! I’ve been using my Canon EOS 90D for a while now, mostly for indoor portraits and some event photography. I'm starting to find the built-in flash way too limiting, especially with those harsh shadows. I really need a solid external flash that supports High-Speed Sync (HSS) for outdoor fill light and has a fast recycle time so I don't miss any shots. I’m stuck between sticking with a Canon Speedlite like the 430EX III-RT or going for a Godox V1 to save some money. My budget is around $250. Does anyone have experience with these or a better recommendation that works seamlessly with the 90D?
In my experience, the Godox V1-C Flash for Canon is the way to go for your 90D setup. Honestly, it’s way more practical than the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT because of that Li-ion battery. At my last indoor shoot, i didn't have to swap batteries once! * Godox V1: Fast recycle, round head light is pretty smooth.
* Canon: Reliable, but kinda overpriced tbh. Basically, the Godox works perfectly with HSS and fits your budget... gl!
In my experience, the built-in flash is just too tiny for soft light. You basically need more power for events to avoid those harsh shadows. I've tried many, but the Godox V860III-C Speedlite for Canon is a steal at $160! Honestly, the HSS is perfect for outdoor shots. It saved me at my first wedding cuz the recycle time is sooo fast. You wont miss any shots! Are you getting a wireless trigger too?
Bookmarked, thanks!
Been using this for years, no complaints
