  • budget around 200 bucks
  • need 77mm threads for my 24-105mm
  • gotta be high quality glass for a zion trip next month

what are you guys using that doesnt vignette like crazy?

Building on the earlier suggestion, be careful with stacking on that wide end. I would suggest B+W 77mm Master High Transmission Circular Polarizer MRC Nano.

  • Use slim brass mounts
  • Watch for knockoffs Wont bind up.

I tried to go the cheap route with some generic filters last year and honestly... it was a huge mistake. Unfortunately, the color cast was so bad it basically ruined my sunset shots. Not as good as I expected at all, kinda disappointing when you spend all that time hiking just to get home and see purple rocks. Ngl, I almost gave up on using CPLs entirely because of it. Since you're going to Zion, you really need something that stays neutral. I eventually picked up the NiSi 77mm HUC PRO Nano IR Circular Polarizer and it fixed everything for me. The IR coating is the secret sauce that stops that magenta shift from happening. Its super slim too, so it wont vignette on your 24-105mm even when you're wide at 24mm. Definitely worth the cash to avoid the editing headache.

> what are you guys using that doesnt vignette like crazy? Unfortunately, my old filters vignetted badly. Not as good as expected. Switched to Breakthrough Photography 77mm X4 CPL and it is super thin and clear.

been thinking about your Zion trip... thats gonna be awesome. if you want something that basically stays neutral and can take a beating, i'd look at the Hoya 77mm HD3 Circular Polarizer. i've used it for a while and the color is spot on without any of that magenta shift you're seeing. plus the glass is hardened so it's way harder to scratch when you're out in the dust and wind. another solid one is the Marumi 77mm EXUS Circular Polarizer Mark II. it's usually a bit cheaper than the high-end boutique brands but the light transmission is top notch. both are thin enough that they wont vignette at 24mm on your 6dii. just make sure you keep the threads clean so they dont bind up in the desert heat tho, that fine sand gets everywhere.
