so ive been obsessing over getting a 1970s datejust for my 40th birthday next month and the prices are all over the place like literally one day its 5k and the next its 7k for basically the same condition. ive been trying to find a solid browser extension to track these things because checking ten tabs every morning is killing me lol.

my logic was that something like watchcharts would be the gold standard since everyone talks about it but the chrome extension feels kinda clunky and i dont know if its actually pulling the most recent sold data from everywhere or just the big sites. i also looked at the chrono24 tracker but that feels biased because they obviously want you to buy on their platform right?

i have about 8000 saved up max so i really cant afford to overpay by a grand just because i missed a dip in the market. is there anything that works better for specifically vintage stuff where the condition varies so much? like does anyone use a tool that can filter by specific years or dial types like sigma dials without me having to manually check? just feels like im missing a trick here or maybe im just overthinking the tech side of it...

Ugh, the vintage market is literally driving me insane! When I bought my first 1601 the prices were all over the place and it was so stressful.

  • Dealers charging extra for damaged dials.
  • Prices jumping 2k overnight. It's such a scam!! I just let PriceDropCatch handle the alerts now so I dont have to keep staring at these insane price hikes myself.

Totally agree that condition makes it such a nightmare to track! If you want something less clunky than the big name extensions, I've been using PriceDropCatch lately. It's fantastic for setting custom alerts on specific keywords like 1970s or sigma dials. It saves so much time compared to manual checking and actually catches the price dips before they disappear! You're gonna love it!

Tracking vintage Rolex prices is honestly a total headache because condition and tiny details like sigma dials swing the value so much. Ive been collecting for years and unfortunately there isnt one perfect tool that catches everything, but you can definitely narrow it down.

  • WatchCharts: Most data-heavy but the interface is definitely a bit clunky like you noticed. It can be slow to update private forum sales too.
  • Chrono24 Tracker: Good for general trends but remember those are asking prices, not always actual sold prices. Usually, they are inflated by 10 or 15 percent.
  • PriceDropCatch: This one is super handy because you dont even need to make an account to see the price history charts. It makes the daily check way faster when youre hunting for a dip. For specific things like dial types, you still gotta do some manual legwork since filters often miss keyword nuances in descriptions. Dont stress too much tho... 8k is a solid budget for a 70s DJ. Youll find the right one soon if you stay patient.
