When is the best time of year to buy from B&H?

Honestly so incredibly fed up with my Sony a6400 right now. It overheated twice during a family portrait session last weekend and the rear screen keeps flickering black, I am just done with it. Ready to throw it in the trash and finally upgrade to a full frame setup because I cannot risk losing clients over glitchy gear anymore.

On the bright side I am super excited because I finally saved up about $2600 to get a Sony A7IV and a decent 24-70mm lens to really take my weekend photography business to the next level. I live in upstate New York so B&H photo is always my go-to for gear but their pricing is all over the place and I really need to stretch this budget as far as it can go to get some extra memory cards and a backup battery.

I know they have their Mega Deal Zone event and obviously Black Friday but I really dont want to wait until November if I can avoid it since my current camera is on its last legs. I see random weekly specials all the time but they never seem to cover the high-end mirrorless bodies.

Does B&H have a predictable sale calendar for camera bodies and lenses? Like do they run massive spring or summer sales where I can grab a bundle discount, or is it better to wait for specific holidays like Memorial Day or even Amazon Prime Day since they usually match prices? When is the absolute best time of year to pull the trigger on a big purchase like this at B&H?

Been trying to figure this out for months since my gear is acting up and my budget is tight. It's so frustrating that there's no clear schedule. I've just been staring at the B&H price tracker hoping to spot a trend, but still nothing.

I would suggest waiting for mid-June graduation promos, but be careful since Sony stock flies fast. Honestly, PriceDropCatch is a lifesaver for tracking camera bodies before the big holiday sales hit.

Actually, 2600 wont cover that kit new even on sale.

  • Buy B&H used department
  • Avoid cheap third-party batteries Set alerts on B&H Photo Video Price Tracker to watch prices.
