What is the best app or tool I can use to get an alert the second someone drops the price on an eBay listing I am watching? I have no idea what I am doing and I feel so stupid even asking this but I have been staring at this one specific listing for like three days straight. It is a used Fujifilm X-T30 camera and the seller has it for $700 which is way out of my budget but they have it listed as Buy It Now and I am just terrified someone else is gonna swoop in if they lower the price and I am not looking at my phone right then.

I only have about $500 saved up from my part-time job and I really need this before my brothers graduation in ten days because I promised I would take all the family photos for him. I tried looking at the eBay settings on my phone but everything is so confusing and there are like a million notification toggles and none of them seem to say tell me when this specific guy lowers his price by a hundred bucks. I tried searching the app store but there are so many options and I dont want to download something that is going to steal my password or just not work.

Is there like an outside app or a website that does this for free? I saw something about browser extensions too but I usually use my phone so I dont know if that helps. I keep hearing people talk about price trackers but I dont know if those are only for Amazon or if they work for eBay too since eBay is all individual sellers and stuff. I also saw something called sniping but I think that is only for the auctions where the timer counts down right? This one doesnt have a timer it just says Buy It Now.

I am literally refreshing the page like every ten minutes and it is driving me crazy because I am supposed to be in class right now but I cant stop checking. If there is a simple way to do this please explain it like I am five years old because I am really not tech savvy at all and I am panicking that I will miss out on the only good deal I have seen in weeks...

I've had issues with the native eBay app being incredibly inconsistent lately. It's frustrating because the data is there, but the delivery is just subpar. Honestly, the internal watch list is pretty disappointing for real-time tracking because the latency between a price change and the push notification is often several hours. By then, the item is usually gone. Since you're on your phone, you need something that monitors the listing externally. I've been using PriceDropCatch lately for my gear hunting because the refresh intervals are way better than the stock app. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • EBay's own price drop notifications are notoriously laggy and unreliable for specific listings.
  • Most browser-based extensions wont work on your mobile device so dont waste time there.
  • A $200 drop on a Fujifilm body is quite rare, so you might want to message the seller directly. I really expected better native tools from eBay by now but unfortunately they just arent there...

at Reply 1, good point. In my experience, BayAlerts beats Gixen for instant price drop tracking. Does the listing have a Best Offer option too or just Buy It Now?
