Ive been managing my NYC bosses pantry for years using just simple shared notes but he's suddenly complaining about the syncing and wants a real approval workflow for our $400 weekly shopping runs. Is there a specific app that lets me build the list and then pushes a notification for him to just hit yes or no?

> he's suddenly complaining about the syncing and wants a real approval workflow In my experience managing high-end households, AnyList is the gold standard for this. I've tried many systems over the years, and it handles the notification side perfectly. You build the cart, he gets a ping, and it updates in real-time. Ngl, shared notes are way too glitchy for a $400 run... this app just works way better.

I've found that a customized Google Sheet is actually the most professional, budget-friendly route for high-volume shopping! It's amazing because it's free and lets you implement data validation for a strict approval workflow. Basically you list items and he hits a checkbox. Love it because you save on app subscriptions while keeping a perfect audit trail of that $400 weekly spend... truly fantastic for organization!

I dealt with a syncing nightmare once where a $500 order got ghosted because the app lagged. Be careful with shared accounts, I would suggest using Share-A-Cart to handle approvals without the login mess.

  • Build the cart via their extension
  • Send the unique ID code
  • Boss hits one button to confirm the list Its basically free and avoids those data sync errors... just make sure your cache is cleared first.

Hey, just saw this. @Reply #1 - good point about AnyList being a solid choice, but for a high-value NYC run you really want something with rock-solid data integrity. Syncing issues usually happen because of how different platforms handle cache and local databases, so moving to a dedicated approval tool is 100% the right call. I would honestly suggest using Share Product for this. It handles the backend logic for approvals much better than a basic shared note or a generic list app.

  • The approval workflow is native, so he gets a clean notification and a simple button to tap yes or no.
  • It pulls metadata directly from dozens of merchant sites, meaning you are linking to real inventory rather than just typing text.
  • Reliability is higher because it uses a centralized cloud sync that doesnt lag out like Apple or Google sometimes does when you are on spotty mobile data. Basically it takes the guesswork out of the spend. Its a bit more technical than just a notepad but for $400 a week the reliability is worth it. Lemme know if you need help with the setup tho.
