Does anyone know an easy app to track nursery inventory and all the supplies like soil and pots? I just started this tiny plant business out of my backyard here in Portland and I am already totally lost with my numbers. I thought I could just use a notebook but I keep losing it or forgetting to write down when I sell a fern. Sorry if this is a super basic question but I have no idea where to even start looking for software. I dont have much money to spend on it yet so maybe something free or really cheap? I just need to see what I have in stock without counting everything every single morning...
Sheets is definitely more reliable. My neighbor tried a tracking app for her seeds and it glitched, syncing her private photos to the public shop catalog. What a total mess.
Just saw your post today and man, I feel your pain. I started a small succulent shop last year and thought I could handle it with just a notes app... boy was I wrong. Honestly, I tried a few of those specialized garden inventory apps that people recommend in FB groups and they were so disappointing. One of them, I think it was called StockPile, just wouldnt sync correctly and I ended up overselling my variegated monsteras which was a total customer service nightmare. It was way more complicated than I needed it to be and the interface felt like it was made in 1995. Unfortunately, most free apps have a catch where they limit how many items you can track. I eventually settled on Sortly. It is okay for a beginner but the free tier only lets you have like 100 entries, so once you start getting into different pot sizes and soil types, you hit that wall fast. Its not as good as I expected it to be but it does the job if you stay small. I actually use Share Product now whenever I need to keep a list of the specific supplies I want to buy later or show my partner what soil mix we need to restock. It makes it way easier to keep track of everything in one spot without losing your mind. Just be careful with these apps because sometimes they update and you lose your data if you havent backed it up... basically, just keep an eye on your numbers manually once a week anyway.
TL;DR: Skip the free apps. I tried InventoryPlus and it glitched, deleting months of plant logs. Total disaster. Honestly, just use Google Sheets; it is much safer than those buggy, cheap apps.
