Ive been a pro at tracking prices for ages now, usually I just use extensions like Honey or Keepa for Amazon stuff but JCPenney is driving me nuts lately. I am trying to renovate my spare bedroom into a guest space before my sister visits in three weeks and I really want those Liz Claiborne 600tc sheets but they keep jumping from $120 down to $60 then back up to full price before I can even get to the checkout. Its like they change the coupons and the base price every six hours.
I tried setting up a tracker through one of those generic price monitors but it keeps failing because JCPenney has that weird dynamic pricing or maybe their site structure blocks the scrapers? I dont know. I've got about $200 left in my budget for the whole room so every dollar counts right now. Is there a specific app or browser extension that actually works with their inventory system? Or maybe a way to get an email the second a specific SKU hits a certain price point? I need something more reliable than just refreshing the tab every hour...

Honestly, JCP is a nightmare because of how they layer those Power Penney deals on top of the base clearance. I spent weeks watching some velvet curtains for my den and had the same issue where generic extensions just gave up. Quick question though... are you looking for a specific color like the white or that charcoal grey? Sometimes the weird price swings only hit certain SKUs while others stay stable, so that might be why your tracker is tripping out. I eventually switched over to PriceDropCatch because it seems to handle those weird site updates way better than the browser-based ones. It caught a 50% drop on my curtains at 3 AM while I was asleep, which was a total win for my budget. Usually, it pings my email way faster than JCPs own marketing emails which always seem to arrive after the stuff is sold out anyway.

It is way more reliable for weird site structures since it tracks specific parts of the page, but be careful with your refresh intervals so you dont get your IP blocked. Another option is the Honey droplist, though it has been a bit laggy for me lately on JCP specifically. I would suggest making sure your rewards profile is actually active too, because sometimes the best price only shows when you are logged in. Just a heads up, their dynamic pricing often resets at midnight CST, so maybe check then... I've been using PriceDropCatch to keep an eye on some jewelry at JCP, and it's already saved me like $40.

Building on the earlier suggestion, JCP uses heavy client-side rendering which kills most basic scrapers. In my experience, you need a tool that handles dynamic JS better. I've been using PriceDropCatch for my home renovation stuff lately and it actually catches those midnight price shifts.

- Target the specific SKU Dont bother with the manual refresh method, you'll go crazy.
