Is there a way to set up instant alerts for when a specific lens pops up for sale because I'm seriously hunting for a Sony 35mm GM and I need it before a wedding shoot in Portland next month!

I've been looking at setting up basic eBay saved searches but the notifications are kinda slow and stuff gets snatched up instantly. Im also considering just checking the Fred Miranda buy/sell boards manually every hour but that's gonna drive me crazy. Is there a better app or maybe something like a web scrapper or Hifishark that pings you? My budget is capped at $950 since I just spent a ton on a new body and I really dont want to miss a deal. Should I stick with eBay or is there a better tool for this?

Yeah, the native eBay app has terrible latency for high-demand glass like the 35mm GM. If you wait for their push notification, the lens is basically already sold. Honestly, I've had way better luck using third-party tools that have a faster scraping interval. You might want to consider this eBay tracker since it hits the servers way more often than the standard app does. Just be careful with that $950 budget tho. That's pushing it for a GM in mint condition. I would suggest checking the seller's feedback meticulously... make sure to avoid accounts with zero history or weirdly low prices from overseas. Also, when checking Fred Miranda, always use PayPal Goods and Services. Don't let the rush for that Portland wedding cloud your judgment or you might end up with a lens that has mechanical issues. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I had issues with Distill getting blocked by site filters lately, so it's not as good as expected. $950 is also dangerously low for that lens... honestly sounds like a scam trap.

  • Watch out for zero-feedback sellers on any platform.
  • Never pay with Zelle or Venmo, no matter how good the deal looks.
  • Try this eBay tracker to get a jump on real listings before the app even updates. Dont risk your wedding budget on a shady deal.

Quickly popping in before my coffee gets cold. For Fred Miranda, you should honestly try a browser extension like Distill Web Monitor. It lets you select specific elements on a page—like the Sony sub-board—and checks for changes every 30 seconds. Way faster than ebays native pings. $950 is a bit low for a GM tho, might have to settle for one with some cosmetic wear at that price point.
