Is there a native eBay setting to get notified when a watched item drops in price? Ive been using the site forever but usually just rely on external apps.

Im trying to grab a specific gaming monitor for under 300 bucks before my semester starts and keep missing out on the sudden discounts...

Oh man, I totally get the struggle of hunting for deals on a budget! I saved a ton of money last year on my setup by being super careful with how I track prices. One time, I almost downloaded a sketchy tracking extension, but I got scared it would scrape my login info... safety first! Honestly, eBay does have a native feature through the Watch List, and it is actually fantastic when it works right! You just gotta make sure your phone settings are perfect so you dont miss those sudden drops.

  • Turn on Price drop alerts in the app communication preferences.
  • Add every monitor you like to your Watch List immediately.
  • Check your Saved Searches for new listings under 300 bucks. I managed to snag a high-end GPU for way under market price just by waiting for that official notification to pop up. It felt like winning the lottery! Just stick to the official app to keep your account safe while you hunt for that monitor. You're gonna find an amazing deal soon!

Saw this earlier and figured Id chime in since Ive been using the site for ages. eBay does have native alerts now, and honestly, theyve worked pretty well for me. The main way is just adding the monitor to your Watchlist. When the seller drops the price, you get a notification or an email. Its super simple and I am usually satisfied with how fast the push notifications hit my phone. The other native option is a Saved Search. You basically search for the monitor, set a price filter for under 300, and click the heart icon. Comparing them, the Watchlist is great for tracking one specific item, but the Saved Search is way better for finding any new listing that fits your budget. I usually use a mix of both and haven't had any complaints. It definitely beats checking the site every ten minutes lol. Youll get that monitor in no time if you set those up.

Re: "Saw this earlier and figured Id chime in..." - definitely some things you gotta be careful with here. eBay notifications can be super slow sometimes. If youre aiming for that $300 price point for a monitor, you might want to consider that the official app pings often lag by 15-20 minutes. By then, a good deal is usually gone. I would suggest a more methodical approach to make sure you dont get burned:

  • Check your communication preferences in settings. Make sure Price reduced on item is checked under the Buying tab.
  • Be careful with Best Offer listings. Sometimes a price drop isnt a formal reduction, its just a seller sending a private offer to watchers.
  • I would suggest using PriceDropCatch eBay tracker for more reliable alerts since native ones can be hit or miss during peak shopping times. Just make sure you check the sellers return policy too... monitors often arrive with dead pixels and getting a refund on a used unit is a massive headache.
