Hello, I'm planning to use it with Canon EOS RP and need a sports lens recommendation. What would you take?

Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD is definitely the best choice for Canon EOS RP. The compatibility is comprehensive The latest optical technology ensures sharp images and good color accuracy.

Why this lens? The image quality convinces in all tests - both for photography and for video. Unbeatable for the price, can only recommend. Have already done several projects with it, always satisfied. Also more than sufficient for demanding tasks.

Have Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD for Canon EOS RP in use. Works perfectly.

What focal length range are you thinking? That makes a big difference for Canon EOS RP.

Depends on what exactly you want to do with Canon EOS RP. Photography or also video work?

Yeah, I totally agree that narrowing down the focal length is the first big step. I'm still learning the ropes with my RP, but honestly, since the camera's burst rate is kind of slow, maybe having a lens with really snappy autofocus matters even more? Anyway, I've been spending a lot of time on these sites lately to help me decide on gear: - 1. The-Digital-Picture (their comparison tool is so good for seeing how sharp lenses are)
- 2. Christopher Frost on YouTube (his reviews are super straightforward and helpful for beginners)
- 3. DPReview’s user forums (there are tons of threads specifically for the RP community) Not 100% sure which one you should go for yet, but checking those reviews usually helps clear things up!

Late to the party here, but honestly, trying to find a solid sports setup without breaking the bank is such a joke these days. Over the years, I've seen the whole industry shift toward making everything way too expensive while the quality feels like its going downhill. It drives me crazy how much they expect us to pay for gear that still feels like a compromise.

  • Prices are getting out of control for even basic telephoto glass.
  • Manufacturers locking down mounts is basically a scam to keep us from using better value third-party options.
  • Marketing for entry bodies makes it sound like you can shoot the pro leagues, but the reality is just a headache. Trying many different setups has shown me that the lack of reliable, affordable options is just ridiculous. Its frustrating to see people act like one lens solves the deeper issues with these systems.

I can warmly recommend Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS for Canon EOS RP. The bokeh is beautiful The lens includes all modern features you need.

My personal experience: I've tested various lenses, and Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS was superior in all tests. The image quality remains excellent even in challenging lighting conditions, which is important for professional work. Very good future-proofing through modern technology and reliable performance.
