Does anyone know which external battery grip is actually the best one to get for the Canon R6 Mark II because I am totally lost and dont want to buy the wrong thing? I just got this camera last week and oh my god the photos look so good compared to my old phone but the battery seems to go down pretty fast when I am practicing in the backyard with my dogs. I am super excited because my sister asked me to take photos for her wedding in about three weeks in Seattle and I want to make sure I dont run out of power right when they are doing the rings or the first kiss or something important!
Sorry if this is a really basic question but I keep seeing these things you attach to the bottom of the camera that hold more batteries and I think I need one of those. I have kind of big hands too and the camera feels a bit small when I am holding it for a long time so I think it might help with that too? I was looking online and I saw the official Canon one which is the BG-R10 I think? But it is like three hundred dollars which is basically my whole budget for accessories right now. Then I saw these other ones from brands like Neewer and some other names I cant even pronounce that are way cheaper like sixty or eighty bucks and I am just so confused if they are safe to use. Like will a cheap one break my expensive camera or make it glitch out? I live in a really small town so I cant just go to a store and ask someone or try them out myself which really sucks.
I really want something that feels solid and wont stop working in the middle of the wedding but I also dont want to spend money on the Canon name if the cheap ones are just as good. Is there a specific brand that you guys trust for this? I heard some people say third party ones can drain the battery even when the camera is off and that sounds really scary since I only have two batteries total right now. Anyway if anyone has used one on their R6 II please tell me what to do...
Building on the earlier suggestion, unfortunately I had issues with a generic brand where the shutter button felt mushy. Not as good as expected tbh. If you want a solid middle ground, try:
Ive been very satisfied with the Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip. It works well and keeps the electronics safe.
Re: "Ive been very satisfied with the Canon BG-R10..." - honestly I was worried about the cost too. If you cant swing the Canon price, there are decent alternatives:
