I finally got the Canon R6 Mark II and I am so excited! Im going to Italy in three weeks and I really need just one lens that can do everything because I dont want to carry a huge bag. I literally have no idea what the numbers mean though, like is 24-105 better than a 50mm? I am so lost lol and sorry if this is a dumb question.
Here is what I need:
What should I actually buy so I dont ruin my vacation photos?...
Unfortunately, a 50mm lens is too narrow for those tight streets, and I had issues with cheaper glass not being as sharp as expected on the R6 II sensor. Its disappointing to see people use basic lenses on a pro body.
Regarding what #2 said about heavy glass, I agree.
Exactly what I was thinking
Saw this earlier but just getting a chance to reply. Honestly, I'm gonna disagree with the folks pushing the heavy L series glass. If you're just starting out, a heavy lens is mostly just a liability when you're walking 10 miles a day in Italy. I'd stick with the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM. It's a solid, reliable choice that won't make your neck ache. Since you're worried about keeping things safe, definitely pick up a Hoya 67mm NXT Plus UV Filter to keep the glass protected from dust and fingerprints. It's a simple DIY way to keep your gear clean without carrying a whole cleaning kit everywhere. The 24mm side is wide enough for the big cathedrals and 105mm is plenty for shots of people. It's not the flashy pro choice but it's the safe choice for a vacation where you actually want to enjoy yourself... just my opinion tho.
tbh I regretted hauling heavy glass through Rome. Stick to one zoom.
Good to know!
