So I finally grabbed an R100 as a little throw-around camera for my trip to Maine next month since my main rig is way too heavy for hiking but man the kit lens is kinda slow. I know my way around a sensor and glass but these RF prices are throwing me for a loop and my logic was to find something under 300 bucks that isnt a total brick.
I was thinking about the 50mm 1.8 because its cheap but then I remembered the crop factor makes it like an 80mm which is a bit tight for street stuff. Should I just bite the bullet on an EF-RF adapter and use my old glass or is there some hidden gem native lens I missed?
Regarding what #2 said about "Consider the Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM. Be...", unfortunately it has some gnarly distortion. Check OpticalLimits data. If youre cool with manual glass:
Native glass is basically the most reliable path if you dont want to deal with autofocus issues. The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM is a solid choice that fits your budget perfectly. It provides a much wider field of view for street photography than a 50mm on that body. Alternatively, the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is the safest way to use your existing EF lenses without losing functionality.
