honestly im kinda losing my mind with the battery life on my new EOS R5 Mark II. I have a huge wedding shoot in Seattle next weekend and I just know the base batteries arent gonna cut it for an 8 hour day. I tried looking for the official Canon BG-R20 but its backordered everywhere and way out of my budget after buying the body anyway. Im so stressed about the camera dying during the ceremony... its literally my biggest nightmare right now.

Are there any solid third party grips that actually work with the new cooling vents or do I just have to bite the bullet on the official one if I can even find it? What are the best battery grips for the EOS R5 Mark II?

I have shot weddings for a decade and power failure is the worst feeling. I would suggest being very careful with third-party grips right now because the R5II cooling is so specific.

Regarding what #2 said about "unfortunately these new cooling vents are a total..." - he is spot on. I tried a knockoff grip for my R5II during a sports event recently and it was a total disaster. The camera felt like a toaster because there was nowhere for the heat to go. I was so disappointed because I really wanted that extra juice without paying the massive Canon tax. Honestly, if you are stressed about that Seattle wedding, maybe skip the sketchy grips for now. I ended up buying four of the Canon LP-E6P Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery packs and an Anker 737 Power Bank PowerCore 24K for emergencies. Its not as comfortable as a real grip, but at least your camera wont shut down in the middle of the vows. I also picked up a SmallRig Handstrap for Mirrorless Cameras to help with the weight since I lost the grips ergonomics. Its a bummer, but safety first.

unfortunately these new cooling vents are a total nightmare. i tried the Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip but it blocks airflow and my r5ii overheated after just twenty minutes of shooting.

Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.
