So I finally saved up and got the Canon R5 Mark II because I want to take photos for my sister's wedding in Seattle next month but honestly the battery is stressing me out a bit because it seems to go down so fast just while I'm looking at the menus. I saw someone on YouTube mention a battery grip thingy but when I look them up there are different numbers and some are really expensive and others are cheap and I dont want to break my new camera. Is there a specific one I need for the Mark II or can I use an older one to save some money? My budget is maybe 300 or 400 dollars if that helps...

Just catching up here. Unfortunately, the prices for the new grips are kinda ridiculous. I’ve had issues with cheap third-party ones feeling super flimsy, which is a letdown. Are you shooting a lot of video? If not, maybe just skip the grip and buy a couple extra Canon LP-E6P Li-Ion Battery units instead. Its way more budget-friendly and keeps the camera light for the wedding.

In my experience, just grab the Canon BG-R20 Battery Grip. It fits your budget and is designed specifically for the Mark II. The older Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip actually works if you find a deal, but you wont get the new high-speed data features. Ive tried many third-party grips over the years and they usually feel like junk. Dont risk a wedding on a cheap knockoff.
