Can anyone tell me which budget external flashes actually work with the Canon EOS Rebel T7 because I am honestly spiraling a bit looking at all these technical specs. I have my sisters wedding coming up in about three weeks here in Cleveland and the venue is this old converted warehouse with like zero natural light so I know I need a flash but I am broke lol. My budget is strictly under 100 bucks if possible maybe 120 if it is really worth it but even thats pushing it.

So I did some digging and I keep seeing the Godox TT600 and the Neewer NW670 mentioned everywhere but then I went down a rabbit hole on some photography forums and people were saying the T7 is crippled because Canon removed the center sync pin on the hot shoe?? I dont even really know what that means in practice but apparently it makes it so a ton of third party flashes just straight up wont fire. I looked at my camera and yeah there is just a big empty space in the middle of the bracket where a little metal dot should be I guess.

I am so worried I am gonna buy something like the Godox and it wont talk to the camera and I will be stuck taking blurry dark photos of the cake cutting and my sister will kill me. Does the T7 need a specific TTL version to work without that pin or do I need a specific firmware update? I also saw something about the Yongnuo YN560 but again some people say it works and some say it doesnt on the newer Rebels. If anyone has this exact camera and uses a flash that didnt cost 300 dollars please tell me what you are using. I really need something reliable but easy to use because I am still kinda new to this whole thing and manual settings still scare me a little bit especially when things are moving fast at a reception...

Adding my two cents cuz I totally get the broke student vibe lol. I'm really satisfied with the Godox TT350C Mini Flash for Canon... it works perfectly with the T7's weird shoe and fits your budget. Only downside is it's kinda small and takes longer to recycle than the beefier Godox V860III-C TTL Li-ion Flash. Both definitely fire without that center pin tho, no firmware hacks needed.

The Godox TT685II-C TTL Flash for Canon is an ideal solution. It utilizes specific pins to bypass the missing center contact, ensuring consistent performance for your sister's upcoming wedding.

Saw this earlier but just now getting a chance to chime in. In my experience shooting low light events, reliability is the only thing that matters. I've tried many different setups over the years and nothing kills the mood faster than a flash that wont fire when the bride is walking down the aisle. I once used a generic unit on a Canon EOS Rebel T7 and it was a total gamble every time I pressed the shutter. If you are shooting a wedding in three weeks, you really dont want to be second-guessing your gear. Are you looking for a flash that has full E-TTL so it talks to the camera and sets the exposure for you automatically? Also, do you know if you will be able to bounce the light off the ceiling in this warehouse, or are the ceilings really high and dark? That makes a massive difference in what kind of power you actually need to avoid those blurry shots.
