I’ve been putting my new Canon EOS R6 Mark II through its paces lately, and while the camera itself is incredible, I’m really starting to feel the need for a solid battery grip. I do a lot of portrait work and event photography, often shooting vertically for hours at a time, and my wrist is definitely starting to protest. Plus, when I have my RF 70-200mm f/2.8 attached, the whole setup feels a bit unbalanced and front-heavy.

I’m looking for something that offers excellent build quality and doesn't feel like cheap plastic. Battery life is a huge concern for me during long wedding days, so having that dual-battery capacity is non-negotiable. I’m aware of the official Canon BG-R10, but the price tag is a bit steep. I’ve looked at some third-party alternatives like Neewer or Vello, but I’m worried about whether they can match the weather sealing and button responsiveness of the native gear. I really don't want to risk a connection failure in the middle of a shoot.

Has anyone here had long-term experience with either the official Canon grip or a specific third-party model on their R6 II? Is the official one truly worth the premium, or is there a reliable 'hidden gem' out there that provides the same ergonomics and durability?

So, for your situation, I’d suggest grabbing a grip sooner than later cuz that Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM is no joke for long sessions. I've been using the R6 II for a while now and honestly, the balance is way better with the extra weight (at least that's what worked for me). Here's how I'd break it down: - Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip: I’m using this now. Pros: Weather sealing is legit and the joystick tactile feedback matches the body exactly. Cons: Highkey overpriced, but ur paying for reliability.
- Neewer BG-R10 Replacement Battery Grip: Pros: Super affordable for dual-battery capacity. Cons: The plastic feels kinda hollow and i think they might skip some internal shielding maybe? I eventually went with the official one cuz I didn't wanna risk a failure mid-wedding. It works well and I’m super satisfied with the setup using my Canon LP-E6NH Lithium-Ion Battery (2130mAh) packs. gl! 👍

I've dealt with that exact weight imbalance myself... quick question, do you reallyyy need the USB-C power delivery spec for those weddings, or is it basically just about the physical vertical controls?
