Honestly fed up with my gear shaking every time a bird lands near my 90D. My bag is a joke and wont even zip with my 150-600mm lens inside. I need a real setup for my Yellowstone trip next Saturday.

  • budget $500 total
  • rock solid tripod
  • bag fits long lenses

What actually works?

Yellowstone is gonna be amazing! I am super protective of my gear so I only use stuff thats rock solid.

To add to the point above: TLDR: Carbon fiber dampens vibrations better than aluminum. The Benro Mach3 2 Series Carbon Fiber Tripod TMA27C is incredibly stable and safe for heavy glass. Its fantastic!

Regarding what #2 said about carbon fiber... hes spot on, but be careful with your budget since $500 has to cover a lot of ground. For that heavy 150-600mm glass, you really need to prioritize stability or youre gonna regret it.

  • Sirui AM-254 Carbon Fiber Tripod with K-20X Ball Head is a solid pick. Its surprisingly sturdy for the price.
  • MindShift BackLight 26L Photo Daypack is probably the best bet for that lens. It actually fits the 90D with the big lens attached which saves so much time. Make sure to check those weight limits again tho. That 150-600mm is a beast and you dont want your ball head sagging right when a wolf shows up. Always hang your bag from the center column hook in the wind to keep things anchored. Yellowstone weather is wild... be ready for anything. If you get stuck on the specific specs just shout.
