I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable flash that works well for indoor events and general photography. I've heard about the Canon Speedlite series, but I'm unsure which model would be the best fit. Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
tbh the Godox is okay for the price, but i gotta ask—what’s your typical shooting volume? Like, are we talking 500+ shots at a wedding where it cant fail, or just occasional stuff for friends? If reliability is your top priority for that Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, here are a couple of quick tips: - Stick to native: The Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT is way more consistent with thermal management and wont overheat as fast as cheaper alternatives.
- Check the seal: Make sure the flash has a weather-sealed gasket around the hot shoe so you dont get weird electrical shorts if it gets a bit damp. Let me know about the workload and i can give a more specific pick.
> I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable flash that works well for indoor events and general photography. I've been shooting with the 5D Mark IV for years and for pro-level reliability, I honestly wouldnt go with anything other than the Profoto A10 AirTTL-C for Canon. It is a bit of a price jump but the consistency is unmatched in my experience. The recycling time is basically instant and it doesnt overheat even when you're pushing it through a long reception or event. The interface is incredibly clean and methodical, so you arent digging through menus when you need to change settings fast. Plus, the round head gives a much more natural light fall-off for those indoor portraits. The unit handles Canon metering perfectly... it just works every time. If you're doing this for work and need gear that wont fail, it is definitely a solid investment.
Also recommend the Godox V1.
