What's the best flash for my Canon Rebel T7i when shooting indoor events like weddings or parties? I'm looking for something that can handle dimly lit venues and provide soft, even lighting. Do I need a powerful flash with a high guide number, or would a speedlight with bounce and swivel capabilities be sufficient? What are your recommendations for achieving professional-looking photos in these challenging lighting conditions? Which features should I prioritize, like TTL, high-speed sync, or stroboscopic flash?

Godox TT350 is Ok.

Honestly, for weddings and stuff, you gotta prioritize reliability. I’m always a bit paranoid about a flash overheating or just... failing right during the vows, you know? I’d probably look at the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT. It's built specifically for the system, so the TTL communication with the T7i is super consistent. If you need more power, the Godox V860III-C is okay too, but mainly because that lithium battery is way more dependable for long nights than fumbling with AAs. Just... be careful with the mount. Some of the cheaper units have plastic feet that are kinda sketchy and can snap if they get bumped in a crowd. Better safe than sorry, right? TL;DR: Focus on fast recycle times and a metal hot shoe. Consistency is way more important than a high guide number for indoor events.

Caught this thread a bit late but I'm curious, what's your actual budget for this? It makes a huge difference since event gear can get pricey fast. Tbh, if you want that pro look without the Canon price tag, I'd look into the Yongnuo YN600EX-RT II Wireless Flash. It's a solid alternative to the Godox units mentioned earlier. I've found Yongnuo to be really reliable for bounce lighting in dimly lit venues, and they handle the T7i TTL communication pretty well. Another one to consider for softer light is the Godox V1-C Flash for Canon because of that round head design. It’s a bit more expensive than the basic speedlights but the fall-off is way smoother for portraits. Are you planning on staying strictly on-camera, or are you looking to get a trigger for off-camera work too?

Saw this earlier but just getting back to it. Before you jump into buying something, I would suggest thinking about how you actually plan to use the light. Are you gonna keep the flash on the camera the whole night or are you looking to use off-camera triggers? It makes a massive difference for what features you need. Also you might want to consider the typical venue size you'll be working in. If the ceilings are super high or painted dark colors, standard bounce flash isnt gonna work as well as you think, and you might need to look at more powerful setups or modifiers. What kind of budget are you trying to stick to? Knowing that would help narrow things down so you dont overspend on features you might not actually use for DIY event work.
