I have this big shoot coming up for my cousins wedding next Saturday in Chicago and I am honestly panicking a bit. I just bought a Canon 90D and someone told me I need a battery grip so I dont run out of juice mid-ceremony but I have no idea what I am looking for or if they even fit right.

So I was thinking maybe I should just buy the official Canon one because it looks safer? I think its called the BG-E14 but then I saw a different number somewhere else and got totally lost. My logic was that the official one wont explode but it costs way more than my budget which is like 60 or 70 dollars tops after I spent all my money on the actual camera and a lens.

Then I saw brands like Neewer or Vello on Amazon and they are so much cheaper like maybe 40 bucks. Are they junk? Like will my camera just stop working or get fried if I use a knockoff? I really need something that works and will get here by Thursday latest. Is there a specific one you guys recommend that wont break my bank but also wont fail on me during the vows? I really dont want to mess this up...

TL;DR: Save your money, get a reliable third-party grip and buy an extra battery. Quick tip: keep the battery door from your camera inside the grip slot so you dont lose it. How many batteries do you actually have right now? A grip is a paperweight if you only have one. Ive used the Vivitar VIV-PG-70D Battery Grip for Canon 70D/80D/90D and it works without issues.

In my experience, you dont always need to shell out for official gear. While the Canon BG-E14 Battery Grip for EOS 70D, 80D, 90D is the gold standard, Ive used the Vello BG-C10 Battery Grip for Canon 70D, 80D, and 90D on dozens of weddings without a single failure. It fits the 90D perfectly. Honestly, if your budget is tight, Vello is the most reliable third-party brand I have tested over the years.

Quick question, do you need the AA battery tray included for backup? The Neewer BG-E14 Replacement Battery Grip is a decent budget option, but i need to know your battery setup first.
