honestly so over these cheap knockoffs. my generic grip just drains my batteries even when the cameras off and its driving me crazy. i have a wedding shoot next saturday and cant trust this thing anymore. so i was thinking maybe vello? or do i just buy the official canon one and cry about the price? what actually lasts?
Unfortunately, cheap third-party grips are usually a gamble. I had issues with generic brands draining power before, and they're just not as good as expected for professional work. Honestly, just bite the bullet and get the Canon BG-E20 Battery Grip for EOS 5D Mark IV. The build quality and circuitry are actually reliable. The Vello BG-C14 Battery Grip for Canon 5D Mark IV is okay if you're desperate, but it still feels kinda flimsy for a wedding.
In my experience, buying used is the smartest budget move for wedding work.
