Ugh I am so annoyed right now because I spent all this money on a Canon 90D and the video looks amazing but the sound is just... so bad. Like it sounds like I am recording inside a tin can or something. I am trying to start this little channel for my cooking stuff here in Chicago and the street noise is just constant and the camera picks up everything except my voice. I am totally new to this so I have no idea what I am doing and I am sorry if this is like a super basic thing but I am drowning in all these tech terms.
So I was thinking okay I just need a mic right? But then I go on Amazon and there are like a thousand types. Some look like long sticks and some look like little boxes you clip on your shirt and then there are these fuzzy things that look like dead cats?? I dont get it. My logic was that if I just plug something into the side it would work but then I saw people talking about needing separate recorders or phantom power which sounds like something out of a ghost movie lol. I have maybe $150 or maybe $200 if I stretch it but I really dont want to buy something and then find out I need five other cables to make it work. I just want it to plug into the camera and sound like a normal person talking.
I saw some Rode ones but there are like ten different versions of the VideoMic thingy and I cant tell the difference between them. Someone told me to look at shotgun mics because they point at what you want to hear but then I read a comment saying those are bad for indoor rooms with echo? My kitchen has tile everywhere so now I am worried a shotgun mic will make me sound like I am in a cave. Then I looked at the little clip-on ones-lavaliers I think?-but do those plug right into the 90D or do I need a wireless box thing? It is so confusing. I am really frustrated because I want to film this weekend before my sister leaves town but I cant find a straight answer that doesnt involve a degree in sound engineering. Does anyone have a simple buy this and it works suggestion for high quality audio? Or am I totally looking at this the wrong way...
Are you moving around much? I'm satisfied with:
Nice, didn't know that
Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.
Would love to know this too
