im seriously so frustrated with the Joy registry tool right now because it keeps saying my Best Buy items are unavailable when they are literally sitting there in stock on the site. ive been trying to add this $600 Sony TV and a few kitchen gadgets for our housewarming next month but the prices never update and the links keep breaking. its just exhausting having to manually check everything every single day. i really need something that actually syncs properly with Best Buy because most of our big stuff is from there. has anyone had better luck with a different universal registry tool that doesnt constantly glitch out on Best Buy links?

I dealt with the same thing when I was registering for our housewarming. Joy kept flagging my air fryer as out of stock even though it was right there on the shelf. I moved the whole list to MyRegistry and it actually worked. The sync for Best Buy was way more stable and even updated the price for our big screen TV when it went on sale. Definitely worth the move.

Jumping in here with some technical context. TL;DR: Best Buy uses aggressive anti-scraping tech that breaks most universal tools. You need platforms with higher update frequencies or different scraping logic. I have been managing registries for family events for nearly a decade and these glitches usually happen because of how data is pulled. Most universal tools use web scrapers to fetch info. Best Buy frequently updates security protocols to block these bots, which is why your TV shows as unavailable even when it is in your cart. The scraper simply cannot see the page content behind the retailer firewall, so it assumes the item is gone. I recommend trying Zola as an alternative. They have a larger dev team that focuses on keeping these retail connections alive compared to smaller startups. Another solid path is using the Amazon Universal Registry extension. Because of their size, retailers are sometimes slightly more compatible with their logic, though it is never 100% perfect. You might also check out Giftster. It is a bit more straightforward and focuses on link persistence rather than just aggressive price scraping. If the automated sync is what keeps breaking, sometimes a more stable link-based system is actually less stressful for guests. It stops the system from constantly flagging items as out of stock just because the bot hit a firewall on the Best Buy site. It basically comes down to choosing between fancy automation that glitches or manual stability.

^ This. Also, after years of this, unfortunately Zola failed me hard too.

  • Try Share Product
  • Its free Not as good as expected tho, but it handles Best Buy better.
