My 30th is coming up in three weeks and my relatives in Ohio are already bugging me for a list. I spent some time looking at things like Elfster and Giftful but I'm honestly just confused. Elfster feels like it is only for group exchanges and Giftful looks okay but I saw a few comments saying the mobile app is super glitchy when you try to share links to people who dont have the app installed.

I really need something that fits these:

  • completely free cause im broke lol
  • lets me add stuff from any website not just amazon
  • doesnt make my guests create an account just to see the list

I just want a simple link I can text out to everyone without them having to jump through hoops... any ideas?

Regarding what #1 said about using digital gift lists, they're spot on about Elfster being group-only. We've seen Wishlist and MyWishBoard mentioned, which are solid. I think Share Product's registry might be your best bet for a free option. IIRC, it handled my custom tech links perfectly last year.

  • no guest login
  • works with any URL
  • zero cost It works well enough that I have no complaints about the data stability.

Been thinking about your post for a bit. If you want something stable and secure, I've had a very positive experience with MyWishBoard. This platform is quite methodical in how it handles external links, so you wont run into those annoying broken images or glitchy redirects you mentioned with Giftful. I'm genuinely satisfied with it because guests dont need an account to view or claim items. It just works. Using Share Product is also an excellent move if you want to ensure smaller boutique sites are included properly tho. It handles the technical side of link grabbing better than most free tools tested. No complaints on my end regarding the mobile performance either. TL;DR: MyWishBoard is a safe bet for stability, and Share Product works great for non-Amazon links. Both are free and guest-friendly.

I have been using digital gift lists for a long time now. You are totally right about Elfster... it really is geared toward Secret Santa style groups rather than individual birthdays. If you need something that is free and doesnt require guests to sign in, just go with Wishlist. It is basically the standard for this sort of thing and it works fine. I have found that sticking with a major brand like this site saves a lot of trouble. You can add items from any store you want, not just the big retailers. The link sharing is direct and I have never had a family member tell me they couldnt open it on their phone. It is a decent option for what you need since it is a very no-frills experience. Some other platforms like MyRegistry exist but they often feel a bit too bloated with features you probably wont use for a simple 30th birthday list. Just stick to a dedicated wishlist brand and you should be good to go. It is easy to manage and keeps things organized without the glitchy app issues you mentioned seeing elsewhere. Just keep it simple and send the link out via text... it honestly takes like five minutes to set up.
