For Canon EOS RP I would also consider the aperture. Do you need fast lenses for low light?

Using Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM for a couple of months for Canon EOS RP and can only recommend it. The bokeh is beautiful The controls are intuitive and easy to use.

Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM is definitely the best choice for Canon EOS RP. The controls are user-friendly The performance eliminates chromatic aberration effectively.

Why this lens? The image quality convinces in all tests - both for photography and for video. Unbeatable for the price, can only recommend. Have already done several projects with it, always satisfied. Also more than sufficient for demanding tasks.

Exactly what I was thinking

For Canon EOS RP I would take Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM without hesitation. The color rendition is impressive The controls are intuitive and easy to use.

Long-term experience: Using Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM for almost a year and am thrilled. Have researched for a long time and this lens was the best choice. The image quality clearly exceeds my expectations. Very good price-performance ratio, can only recommend further.

Tbh, I agree that the aperture and low light performance are super important for this camera. I'm still kinda new to all this, but I've been reading a lot of community reviews because I dont want to make a mistake and buy the wrong thing. Most people seem to recommend the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM as the best first 'standard' lens for the RP. It’s small and basically everyone says its the safest choice if your on a budget, right? I've also seen a lot of good talk about the Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM if you want something a little wider for everyday stuff. Idk, it’s a bit more expensive than the 50mm but people say the image stabilization is really helpful since the RP doesnt have it in the body. Honestly, I'm always a bit cautious about spending too much, but these two seem to be the most reliable ones that the community suggests for beginners.

Honestly, looking at the technical data, most of these suggestions are either primes or ultra-wides. When I first got my RP, I did a deep dive into MTF charts and lens-body communication protocols because I wanted that perfect "standard" walkaround that actually justifies the full-frame sensor. In my experience, the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is the most logical pairing for the RP’s 26.2MP sensor. Here is what I found from my own testing and long-term use: * Optical Throughput: The constant f/4 aperture provides consistent exposure across the entire 4.3x zoom range, which is critical if youre shooting in manual mode.
* IS Coordination: Since the RP lacks IBIS, the 5-stop optical stabilization in this lens is basically a requirement for sharp handheld shots at lower shutter speeds. * Chromatic Aberration: It handles lateral CA significantly better than the cheaper STM kit version, which saves me tons of time in post-processing. Anyway, if you want professional-grade resolving power without the massive weight of the f/2.8 zooms, this is it. Its basically the most versatile tool in my bag.

I would take Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM for Canon EOS RP, because The price-performance ratio is great The fast autofocus makes everything feel responsive and accurate.
