For Canon EOS R50 definitely Samyang RF 14mm f/2.8 AF. Very good image quality for the price.

I can warmly recommend Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art for Canon EOS R50. The weather sealing is sufficient even for outdoor shooting The ergonomic design allows for comfortable handling.

My personal experience: I've tested various lenses, and Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art was superior in all tests. The image quality remains excellent even in challenging lighting conditions, which is important for professional work. Very good future-proofing through modern technology and reliable performance.

For Canon EOS R50 I would also consider the aperture. Do you need fast lenses for low light?

Interesting question! For Canon EOS R50 it also depends on what you want to shoot. What's your main photography style?

I totally agree with checking the community consensus first before dropping the cash. I was honestly so nervous about picking the wrong thing for my R50... basically I spent weeks reading reviews because I’m always worried about compatibility issues or the mount not feeling "right" with the electronics. From what I gathered lurking in these groups and my own experience: * Communication between the lens and the body was my biggest fear. I specifically looked for glass that other users said wouldn't cause any autofocus glitches or "hunting," as I've heard some non-native options can be a bit finicky with the newer mounts.
* I really worried about the physical balance. The R50 is so small, so I focused on feedback about whether the setup felt "tippy" or awkward to hold for long periods during a hike.
* Tbh, I'm still learning the ropes, but I found that following what the long-time users suggested for long-term reliability was better than just chasing the lowest price. Anyway, just my two cents... definitely better to be safe than sorry when you're starting out with a new body!!!

Looking at the thread so far, everyone is pushing heavy full-frame glass like the Samyang or Sigma. Unfortunately, I think that is a huge mistake for an R50 user. Those lenses are bulky and the balance is honestly terrible... felt like I was gonna drop my kit because it was so front-heavy when I tried a similar setup. Tbh, the Samyang autofocus in particular was not as good as expected and felt a bit glitchy. If you want reliability and actually want to save some cash, here is what I would look at instead:

Using Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD for half a year for Canon EOS R50 and can only recommend it. The reliability is very good The fast autofocus makes everything feel responsive and accurate.
