I've got a big wedding shoot in Chicago next month and my R6 II battery life is making me nervous. Im torn between just biting the bullet on the official Canon BG-R10 or saving cash with the Neewer grip. The Neewer is way cheaper but will it die on me? Which one should I go for?
Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with the build quality on those super cheap clones. The weather sealing is basically nonexistent. If you want to save money but still need something reliable, the Vello BG-C18 Battery Grip for Canon EOS R5 R6 R6 II is a solid middle ground. It has much better button feedback than the Neewer for about half the price of the official one. I wouldnt trust the cheapest stuff for a wedding shoot tho.

I ended up grabbing the Neewer Vertical Battery Grip for R6 Mark II because the price difference was just too big to ignore. It felt a bit more plasticky than the camera body, but it survived twelve-hour days in the heat without a single connection issue. The buttons arent quite as clicky as the official Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip, but for a wedding where youre mostly just holding it for vertical shots, it does the job just fine. Tip: ensure the battery tray is fully clicked in before starting. Third-party trays can be a bit finicky compared to the OEM ones.
