So i just picked up the R6 Mark II a few months ago and im loving the photo side of it but ive been trying to do more video lately for some local wedding gigs here in London. The little flip out screen is okay but man its hard to tell if my focus is actually hit when im shooting wide open at 1.8 or whatever. I spent some time looking into options and everyone says just get the Atomos Ninja V or the Ninja V+ but honestly those seem like way too much money for what I need since I dont really care about recording externally to ProRes right now. I just want a clean bright display so I can actually see what im doing in the sun. Then I saw some people talking about the Feelworld stuff which is way cheaper but then I read a few reviews saying the color accuracy is total garbage and the lag makes it unusable for pulling focus. I have a shoot coming up in three weeks and my budget is strictly around 350 quid so I really need something that just works without breaking the bank or being a total headache to set up. Does anyone have a specific monitor they use with the R6 II that doesnt have weird HDMI handshake issues?

I went through the same headache when I first got my R6 Mark II and ended up being really happy with the Portkeys PT6 5.2-inch 4K HDMI Touchscreen Monitor. It fits your budget perfectly and honestly, the color accuracy is way better than those base-level Feelworlds everyone complains about. The UI is super snappy and I havent had any weird lag or HDMI drops during my shoots. Another solid choice if you can find a deal is the SmallHD Action 5 5-inch 2000-nit HDMI Monitor. Its incredibly bright for outdoor weddings and the build quality feels much more premium. Personally, I stick with the Portkeys because it weighs almost nothing and the focus peaking is super sharp. Both work well with the Canon HDMI output without needing extra adapters or special setups... definitely worth looking into before your next gig.

I've tried many over the years. The SmallHD Action 5 Monitor has great colors, but check:
