so I just upgraded to the 90D from an older Rebel and I realized none of my old accessories really fit right or I just lost them in the move. Im trying to pick a remote shutter for some landscape shots I have planned for a trip to Utah next Friday so I'm on a bit of a time crunch here. I was looking at the Canon RS-60E3 first because its the brand name and I know it'll definitely fit that 2.5mm sub-mini port but honestly thirty bucks for a cord and a button feels like a rip off.

Then I saw the JJC wireless one, I think it's the JM-II model? It's basically the same price but it's wireless which would be great for when I'm trying to get shots of wildlife and dont want to be standing right there. But then I read some random review saying the connection can be super flaky on the 90D specifically and I dont want to be stuck with a dead remote in the middle of nowhere. My logic was that maybe I should just stick to the wired RS-60E3 for reliability but then I saw a Pixel TW-283 that has a timer built in which would be cool for timelapses.

I'm basically torn between these:

  • Canon RS-60E3 (reliable but boring)
  • JJC Wireless (good range but maybe cheap?)
  • Pixel Timer (lots of features but looks bulky)

Does the 90D have issues with 3rd party jacks being loose or should I just stop overthinking and buy the official one...

> Canon RS-60E3 (reliable but boring) I'd suggest the Canon RS-60E3 Remote Switch 2.5mm. Third-party jacks can be loose on the 90D, and you really don't want a dead remote while out in the desert.
