Hey everyone! I’m planning a two-week photography trip and finally want to kit out my Canon EOS 90D properly. Since it’s a bit bulkier than mirrorless options, I’m looking for accessories that make traveling easier without weighing me down. I already have a decent kit lens, but I’m wondering about things like extra LP-E6N batteries, fast SD cards for 4K video, or maybe a specific comfortable neck strap for long days of walking. Does anyone have a favorite compact tripod or a bag that fits the 90D body and a couple of lenses perfectly? I really want to be prepared but avoid overpacking unnecessary gear. What are the absolute must-have accessories you’d recommend for a 90D traveler?

yo, been thinking about your setup... honestly, for those long walking days, the USA Gear Neoprene Camera Strap is a total steal at $20—the neoprene actually stretches to absorb the 90D's weight, which helps ur neck a lot. for a tripod, i’d suggest the K&F Concept 64 inch Aluminum Travel Tripod. it's usually under $80 and pretty compact, tho i guess it might be slightly wobbly in heavy wind cuz it's so light... just gotta be careful there. for the bag, the Amazon Basics Large DSLR Gadget Bag is like $30 and fits the 90D body plus two lenses perfectly without extra bulk. also, check out the Lexar Professional 1066x 128GB SDXC UHS-I Card Silver Series if you want to save a few bucks over the big brands—it’s totally fast enough for 4K video. basically just dont overspend on fancy names!! peace

basically:
1. SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-I beats generic V30s for 4K video.
2. Canon LP-E6NH Lithium-Ion Battery crushes cheap clones.
trust me, oem is worth it!! peace

For your situation, i'd look at technical specs for 4K video first. Since the 90D pushes about 120Mbps, you dont need the priciest cards, but reliability is key. I've been super satisfied with the Kingston Canvas Go! Plus 128GB SDXC UHS-I V30—it’s a total steal and handles 4K write speeds with no complaints tbh. > Does anyone have a favorite compact tripod or a bag that fits the 90D body and a couple of lenses perfectly? Check out the Lowepro Tahoe BP 150. It fits the 90D plus two lenses perfectly without being bulky. Also, the SmallRig Selection 62" Lightweight Aluminum Tripod is surprisingly sturdy and way more budget-friendly than some big brands... basically hits that sweet spot for travel. Grab some Powerextra LP-E6NH 2-Pack 2950mAh with LCD Dual USB Charger too; they're cheaper than OEM and honestly last just as long, right? gl!

Basically, having hauled my 90D through multiple countries, I have found that two often-ignored items make the biggest difference for long-term ownership. First, since that 32.5MP sensor is incredibly dense, dust spots are your absolute worst enemy. I always pack a Giottos Rocket Air Blaster because it is the only way to safely clear the sensor in the field without risking smudges or moisture from your breath. Ngl, the biggest pro tip for the 90D is ditching the stock strap for the Peak Design Slide Lite. The anchor links let you disconnect the strap instantly, which is vital when you are on a tripod in windy conditions. No strap flapping around means way sharper long exposures!!! Also, check out the SmallRig L-Bracket for Canon EOS 90D 2208B. It stays on my camera 24/7 now. It makes switching from horizontal to vertical shots seamless while keeping the weight centered, so your compact tripod does not tip over when you are shooting portraits. TL;DR:

  • Get a Rocket Blaster to keep that high-res sensor clean from dust
  • Use an L-Bracket to keep the cameras center of gravity over the tripod
  • Switch to Peak Design anchors for easier strap management in the field Safe travels!!!

My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.

Building on the earlier suggestion about the blower, i totally agree that keeping your sensor clean is absolute priority number one!! Honestly the 90D is amazing but it can be a bit of a dust magnet if you're swapping lenses a lot. My biggest worry is always gear compatibility and random things failing when you're miles from a camera shop, which would be a total nightmare.

  • Definitely look into getting some kind of protective filter from Hoya for your lenses, just so you dont scratch the glass.
  • Just grab a decent rain cover from Peak Design or a similar brand... you never know when a storm will hit and the 90D is tough but i wouldnt risk it.
  • Stick to official batteries if you can, i've seen some third party ones swell up and get stuck which is terrifying! Basically just go with Manfrotto for anything support related and you'll be golden. They make fantastic gear and it's super reliable. Love their stuff. Better safe than sorry when you're halfway across the world!

Regarding what #1 said about "basically: 1. SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-I..." - it really highlights how expensive just getting the basics has become. So far the thread has basically covered:

  • Getting reliable storage for 4K video
  • Sticking to OEM batteries for safety
  • Upgrading the neck strap and packing cleaning tools Honestly its ridiculous how much extra cash we have to dump into these kits just to make them usable for a two-week trip. It feels like a total scam that the stock gear is always so subpar and you have to spend hundreds more on accessories. The prices are going through the roof while the build quality keeps going downhill... it drives me crazy. These companies know they have us trapped. You really gotta be careful though. I would suggest double-checking every single piece of gear before you go because if a cheap strap snaps or a card corrupts, these manufacturers wont do a thing to help you once you're actually out in the field. It is such a headache trying to find stuff that wont fall apart after three days of heavy use.
