What are the absolute essential travel accessories I need to get for my Canon 5D Mark IV? Im finally taking my dream trip to Japan next month and I want to make sure I have everything ready for the long days of walking.
I read online that the Peak Design Slide strap is the way to go but then I saw some reviews saying it can really dig into your shoulder when youre carrying a heavier body like this one all day. Also saw some people saying I should buy like four extra batteries but then others say a good power bank is enough... though I dont think the 5D Mark IV even supports USB charging right? My budget is about $300 for extra gear.
I just dont want to be halfway across the world and realize I forgot something basic...
Since the 5D IV lacks internal usb charging, a portable dual charger is a total lifesaver for Japan. I've used these for years to charge spares in my bag while im walking between shrines.
Saw this today. You should be careful because the 5D IV lacks USB charging, so a power bank wont help. Carrying that setup through Japan might lead to serious fatigue. To give better advice, I need to know which lenses you are bringing? Total weight is crucial for strap choice. I suggest:
Building on the earlier suggestion, i'm gonna have to respectfully disagree about needing a specialized strap or a mountain of expensive batteries. I've been shooting with this system for over a decade and i've learned the hard way that less is usually more. On a trip to Seoul a few years back, i loaded up on all the top-tier accessories everyone recommended... spent nearly $400 on a fancy sling and four spare official batteries. Truth is, the sling was just as bulky as the camera itself and i barely touched the third battery. I ended up switching back to a generic wide neoprene strap i found for cheap because it took up less space in my bag. For a $300 budget, you really dont want to blow it all on accessories that add bulk. If you just manage your workflow—turn off the rear screen and skip the gps—you'll find that 5D IV sensor is surprisingly efficient. I'd rather see someone put that cash toward a better lens rental or just some decent walking shoes... trust me, your feet will give out way before your battery does in Japan tho.
